Who does what
Most joinery work in London passes through three or four companies before it is finished: one shop machines it, another builds it, a spray shop coats it and a courier delivers it. Every hand-over is a week of waiting and someone new to blame when a panel arrives short.
We do all of it ourselves in Croydon. Estimators, CAD, machinists, bench joiners, sprayers, quality control, counter staff and drivers are all employed here, and they sit within a few metres of each other. When a sprayer spots a filled edge that will ghost through the topcoat, they walk to the bench and say so — the job is fixed that afternoon rather than argued about the following month.
It also means one person can answer the phone and tell you the truth about where your work is: which machine it is on, how many hours are left, and which day it is booked out for delivery.
CAD, cutting lists, sample boards
Estimators and CAD who price from your drawings, flag anything that will cause trouble on site, and draw for approval before a board is cut. Every quote sets out exactly which work is included — design, machining, bench, spray, delivery, fitting — so there is nothing to argue about later.

Machinists who set and prove every programme before a batch goes through. Sheets are cut on the beam saw, machined on the five-axis and the vertical CNC, then edged on the glue-line edgebander so the join does not show a year later.

Carcasses, drawers, doors and one-off pieces built and dry-fitted by hand before anything is finished. Machined parts arrive at the bench already cut and edged, so the joiners spend their time on the parts of a job that actually need a pair of hands.
Manufacturing for tradeMakor robotic line, hand booths, colour mixing room
Sprayers on the robotic line and in the hand booths, mixing colour in our own mixing room and spraying sample boards for sign-off before a full set is coated. Fillers, primers and topcoats are chosen for the surface, not for whatever is open on the shelf.
Spray finishingInspection lights, signed sample boards
Joinery and finish are both checked before wrapping — corners, edges, film build and colour against the signed board. Two separate checks, because a perfect carcass with a patchy topcoat is still a job coming back.
See the machineryOwn vans, blankets and racking
Our own vans and fitters, so your work is handled by people who made it rather than a courier. Deliveries are booked in with you, wrapped for the journey, and walked round on arrival so anything is picked up while we are still standing there.
Trade counter & collectionHow a job moves through us
Drawings, a sketch or a photograph. One estimator owns it from that moment until it is priced.
CAD turns the quote into drawings you sign. Nothing is cut until the drawings and the deposit are in.
The job goes on the board with hours against each machine, so you know where it sits in the week.
Carcasses and fronts assembled and dry-fitted, with anything awkward sorted before the spray shop sees it.
Prepped, sprayed on the line or by hand, cured and racked to the colour on the signed board.

Training
Machinists are trained on our own plant rather than expected to arrive knowing it, and time is set aside for it. Apprentices spend their first months across the departments — prepping and sanding, picking and stacking, watching a programme prove out — before they settle into the machine shop, the bench or the spray shop. College day release is paid for.
People move up here: machine operators into setting, sprayers into programming the robotic line, joiners into leading a bench. Most of the people running a crew today started somewhere else in this building.
Joinery, trade manufacturing and the shop are run by Painted Bespoke Joinery Ltd. The spray shop is run by Painted Ltd. Same yard, same people, two sets of books — so joinery and finishing are invoiced separately and you can see exactly what each part of the job cost.
