What this is
Priming is the layer that decides how the finish looks. Some customers want the whole job done here; others want it primed properly and topcoated on site by their decorator. Both are fine.
- Two coats as standard — Primed, flatted, primed again — one coat never covers MDF edge.
- Tinted to the topcoat — Grey-scale tinted primer so dark colours cover in fewer coats.
- Ready to paint — Left flatted and clean so a topcoat goes straight on.
- Compatible — Tell us the topcoat brand and we prime with something that suits it.

Can my decorator topcoat over your primer?
Yes. Tell us what they are using and we prime with a compatible system.
How long is primed work good for?
Keep it dry and indoors and it is fine for a few months. Beyond that it wants a light flat before topcoating.
What primer do you use?
A two-pack or waterborne primer to suit what is going over it. Tell us the topcoat and we will match the system.
How long is primed work good for?
Kept dry and indoors, several months. It wants a light de-nib before topcoating if it has been stored a while.

Prices and dates for priming
A house set of doors and architrave sealed, primed and flatted. That is a guide taken from work we have actually run — your own price for priming is confirmed in writing once we have the sizes or the drawings, and the date we give you is the date we hold.

What we need, what you get
Send sizes, materials and the finish you want — drawings in any form, or photos and a few measurements. Back you get a fixed written price, a date we hold to, and the work delivered to site on our own vans from our workshop in Croydon.
Machining, finishing and assembly all happen in the same building, so nothing waits on another supplier and nothing gets damaged being moved between them.
