Solid timber being thicknessed in the Painted workshop

Our machines

Martin T32 thickness planer

Solid timber brought to an even, accurate thickness before anything else happens to it.

What it does

Solid timber arrives rough and rarely flat. The Martin T32 takes it down to a set thickness with a clean, consistent surface, so every piece in a run is the same before it reaches the bench or the CNC. Get this wrong and joints sit proud, doors twist and a sprayed finish shows every ripple.

Key capabilities

  • Consistent thicknessA whole batch run to one setting, so every rail and stile matches.
  • Clean surfaceA fine finish off the machine means less sanding before glue-up or spraying.
  • Hardwood and softwoodOak, ash, walnut, sapele, tulipwood and softwoods for painted work.
  • Your timber or oursWe can supply the timber or machine stock you send in.

Where it sits

Before the timber meets anything else

Sawn stock is thicknessed here first, so the bench and the CNC are working with parts that are already accurate. Skip this and every joint afterwards is a correction.

Why trades choose us

Everything solid starts here

Rough timber brought to one accurate thickness before it is machined, jointed or sprayed.

  • One setting, whole batch

Every rail and stile in a run comes off the same setting, so frames pull up square.

  • A clean face

A fine planed surface means less sanding and a flatter sprayed finish.

  • Your timber welcome

Send sawn stock in and we will machine it, or we will supply the timber ourselves.

Why this matters

Why this matters to your job

What Martin T32 thickness planer changes about the price, the date and the finish you get back.

  1. 01

    Joints that close

Frames only pull up square if the parts are the same thickness to start with.

  2. 02

    Less sanding later

A clean planed face saves hours at the bench and gives paint something even to sit on.

  3. 03

    No hired-in machining

Timber is dimensioned here and goes straight to the CNC or the bench.

  4. 04

    Stable stock

Timber is conditioned in the workshop before it is machined, so it moves here rather than on your site.

Straight answers

Questions about the Martin T32 thickness planer

Can I send my own timber?

Yes. Send it sawn and we will thickness it, or we will supply the timber. We will tell you if a board looks likely to move before we machine it.

How accurate is it across a batch?

We hold thickness to ±0.2mm across a run as our own workshop standard, which is what keeps frames square at glue-up.

How it fits our process

    Board cut to size

Sheets cut on the beam saw, nested for yield.

  3. Stage 3

    Machined and drilled

Routed, drilled and grooved on the 5-axis and vertical CNC machines.

  4. Stage 4

    Edged, veneered, assembled

Tape applied and pressed work bonded before the bench builds it.

  5. Stage 5

    Sprayed and delivered

Finished in our booths, checked, wrapped and brought to site on our vans.
